Think harmony with horses
This book was recommended to me by my horsemanship mentor. He called it his horsemanship Bible, and indeed it is. I had so many Eureka moments reading this book. Moments I felt down or confused with my own horse were cleared out by two or three sentences from this book.
It covers everything you need to know to understand horses at their base, plus some tips and views you would probably use in your everyday life.
Definitely a must-read, and it's only like 100 pages! You will want to read it over and over again.
The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse
This book is more about life lessons, but it's super cute, and even has its funny moments.
It’s one of those books that you can open on any page at different times in life, and each time you’ll get a different meaning/understanding.
There is also an animated movie made from this book!
Horse Brain, Human Brain: The Neuroscience of Horsemanship
It is common for people to humanize a horse's actions, saying they're frustrated, they love their friends, they were just scared cats, etc., but we must understand that their brains don't work the same as ours do.
Horses are prey animals as we are predators, and thus, the way they see the world is very different. This book exclaims how horses the horses' brain works compared to ours, and how they learn, think, perceive, and perform.
Its aim is to show how we can work with the horse's brain instead of against it. It is more of a scientific, educational book.
Understanding Horse Whorls
Did you know that different Whorls and swirls on your horse's hair can have different meanings?
Looking at your horses' whorls is an old tradition and it has a bit of mythology behind it.
This book is a fun one to have in hand!
I love seeing the different patterns and positions on each horse I meet, always finding some wonderful surprises.
It is kind of like the Zodiac signs and their meanings but more “in your face”, or in this case, in your horse's hair.
Paddock Paradise: A Guide to Natural Horse Boarding
When we think of a paddock, we probably think of those big rectangular white-fenced areas, with lots of grass and space for horses to run around. Well, it turns out this may not be the best layout.
This book talks about a better way to turn out your horses, giving them a more natural and enriched experience. This track system encourages horses to move around and explore more, even if in a smaller space than their regular gigantic paddocks.

Whenever someone mentions, a horse read I go to this book and look specifically for the information they have on that breed. It's also fun to browse through with other friends and see which horse breed each person likes best.
Classic Westerns (Leather-bound Classics)
Never judge a book by its cover. Well, I certainly love this cover. It has great content to boot.
This has the feeling of stories around the campfire out on a ride in the country.
This book is a collection of classic stories with a super western and cowboy mood.
Kind of like reading other stories like "Yellowstone".
Black Beauty:
The Original 1877 Edition (Anna Sewell Classics)
You have probably heard of this one. There have been many movie remakes and rewritten versions of this book.
Personally, my favorite one is the original one. I've read it and heard the audiobook multiple times. It's not a long one, but it's definitely a fun classic read
